So… I Did a Thing. I’m Now a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant!

Yep. You read that right. I became a Mary Kay beauty consultant—wild, right? I never thought I’d be doing something like this, and honestly, I’m still wrapping my head around it. Like most things I start, I didn’t jump in 100% at first. I started 50% in, half-curious, half-unsure. But here I am. 🩷

Re-Introducing Mary Kay (Through a Camera Lens)

Let me back up. Have you heard of Mary Kay? For me, it had been a while.

I was reintroduced through Jill, a Mary Kay director I met at a 101 Referral Network event around the holidays. She invited me to photograph one of her beauty events—and that’s where everything shifted. I brought my floral backdrop, photographed behind the scenes, and even stayed to take portraits of her guests after they’d finished trying on the products.

And you know what? I actually participated in one of the events too! It was February, and the theme was “Cupid’s Kiss.” Super cute and surprisingly empowering.

That was one of three events I photographed before I ever signed up. I got to try the skincare and makeup, watch women light up after seeing themselves in the mirror, and feel the energy of the room. It wasn’t just beauty—it was connection.

The Girl Who Wasn’t “That Girl”

I’ll be real—I’m not the “beauty guru” type. I never really was. Maybe back in my teens when I’d play around with makeup with my little sister. But even then, I didn’t really know what I was doing.

Sure, I’ve spent the past couple of years working on feeling more confident—dressing with more intention, embracing my artistic side, doing my hair, adding a pop of lipstick here and there. But skincare? Not really my thing.

So when I started thinking about becoming a beauty consultant, it felt strange. Like, I’m not that girl.

I’m not the full-glam, contour-and-brows-on-fleek girl. I’m the eyeliner, mascara, lipstick, call-it-a-day girl.

But then I learned more.

It’s Not Just About Makeup

What I didn’t know is that Mary Kay is about so much more than products. It’s about empowering women. It’s about community. It’s about building a business for yourself—but not by yourself.

When I sat at Chick-fil-A talking to Jill about signing up, I told her, “I don’t know why I’m doing this.” But deep down, I did know. I was doing it for the extra income, sure—but also for something more.

The more I prayed about it and learned, the more I realized I’d been craving that kind of support. That kind of sisterhood. And that confidence. Not just on the outside—but the kind that helps you grow into the woman you were meant to be.

Blending Beauty and Photography

I’m still figuring it out. But I do know this: there’s a connection between what I do behind the camera and what Mary Kay does through beauty.

Photography is about confidence. It’s about celebrating who you are. And when women dress up, do their hair, wear lipstick—we walk different. we talk different. we feel different.

I’ve seen it in my sessions. I’ve seen it in myself.

Since starting my skincare routine with the Mary Kay Ultimate Miracle Set, I’ve noticed a difference in how I feel in my own skin. More at ease. More confident. Maybe not perfect—but more me.

I’m a Photographer. I’m a Beauty Consultant. I’m… Me.

So if you’re following me on Facebook or Instagram, yes—you’re going to start hearing more about skincare and beauty. And I’m not gonna lie—it feels weird and awkward sometimes. Like I’m stepping into a new version of myself.

But maybe that’s the point. Growth is uncomfortable.

In business, they say it takes seven times for someone to see you before they buy from you. You’ll hear a lot of no’s before you get to a yes.

I’ve been doing photography professionally since 2018—and I’m still growing. This new journey with Mary Kay is a challenge, and I’m praying that God gives me the consistency, the boldness, and the discipline to follow through. To become the woman He’s calling me to be.

What I’ve Learned So Far

  • My public speaking is getting better

  • I’m learning to be bold

  • My Spanish is a gift I can use to help other women

  • I’m not perfect, but I don’t have to be

  • Growth takes courage, community, and grace

So if you’re reading this—thank you. Thank you for being here and supporting me as I step into something new.

You might have come here looking for pictures—but now you’re hearing from this “crazy” girl who’s also talking about Mary Kay. And I’m okay with that. 😄

I’m a photographer who helps families celebrate each other. I empower young girls and teens to see how beautifully and wonderfully they are made. I capture confidence.

And now I’m also a Mary Kay beauty consultant—because this is about confidence, too.
