You'll never be ready, just START - My First PAID QuinceaƱera Photoshoot

If I could sit down with my past self, a college film student, I would sound like my mom šŸ˜…. "What do you have to lose? Why don't you just give it a try? Try to do qinceaƱera photography!"

My mom was the person who pushed me to start going event photography for quinceƱeras. At first, I was a little iffy about it. I did not what to do it. I have to talk to people and encourage them to smile. I'm a big-time introvert, especially when I was in college. I did not want people to look at me.

What if the parents don't take me seriously?

What if they notice that I don't know what I'm doing?!

What if they don't like my photos?

What if I can edit their photos?

What if?

I was barely learning how to use my camera settings. I did not know how to pose young girls. And between you and me, teenagers are annoying and weird and they don't like to listen.

But I gave it a try and guess what - it went alright. I was nervous and terrified the whole night, but I think it went well. There was one photo that was too overexposed, but other than that, it went well. Scroll down, take a look and let me know.

How to start with no experience?

Before you do that, scroll down and look at my first set of quinceaƱera photos, I have a mom's advice for you - do not get hung up on the "What If's." May the worst happen, that way you know who to solve and work through it.

Making mistakes means you're doing the work and getting yourself out there.

Mistakes are unavoidable. What you learn and how you move through those mistakes, those challenges, is how you are going to become better. How is that as a mom's advice? (BTW, I'm not a mom, but I have realized that I DO sound like my mom, lately. I think it's because I'm the eldest of four.)

My First Set of QuinceaƱera Photos (paid gig)

I took these photos with my first DSLR Canon camera - Rebel T3i with Kit Lens and the built-in last. This quinceaƱera was my first PAID gig. I emphasize paid because did a few photography events for free before this quinceaƱera. This dates November 7, 2015. I don't remember most of the details, but I was referred.
