When you hear the word quinceañera, what’s the first thing that comes to mind?
For me, it’s the dress. Always the dress.
I instantly picture something big and puffy—like the gowns we see in Disney movies. Something straight out of Beauty and the Beast or Cinderella. Maybe even a floral look like Aurora’s from Sleeping Beauty. The quince gown is iconic—it’s what sets the tone.

So when I see a quinceañera celebrating her big day in a prom-style dress instead, I pause—and then I fall in love with it too. It’s still her quince. It’s still elegant. And it brings a softer, modern kind of princess vibe that feels just right.
That was exactly the case with Andrea.
Andrea’s Quinceañera in a Red Prom Dress – A Unique and Elegant Twist
Andrea didn’t wear the traditional gown. She chose a sleek, red prom-style dress that made a statement all on its own—timeless and bold. When her mom and I were discussing location ideas, I showed her photos from one of my favorite hidden gems: Anthem Community Park.
As soon as she saw the waterfall there, she knew that was the spot. And honestly, I don’t blame her. Just wait until you see it.
Why Anthem Community Park Is One of the Best Places for Quinceañera Photos
Yes, it’s a bit of a drive—about 40 minutes north of downtown Phoenix—but this place is so worth it. It’s full of photo-friendly features:
Two peaceful lakes
Rolling green lawns
A beautiful rose bed at the entrance
A grand waterfall that looks like it belongs behind a castle
And if you’re visiting with family? There’s a train ride, a skate park, sports fields, a playground, and even an outdoor amphitheater.
But for a portrait session? That waterfall is the star of the show.

We started the session by the waterfall, where Andrea’s red dress popped beautifully against the rushing water and natural stone. She posed like a queen—graceful and confident.
